EDC Electrical was founded by company director Edward Collins in 2017. We’re family owned and operated and have an unwavering commitment to the Weipa and Cape community. Our priority is building meaningful relationships with clients, creating sustainable futures for our team and investing back into our local community with apprenticeships, employment opportunities, in-kind contributions and sponsorship.
Our expertise, plant and equipment are always growing to meet client needs. What started as a one-man operation is now a team of 18 and expanding. Our head office is in Weipa and our team travel all over the Cape to service our clients. We have a strong focus on delivering desired outcomes, high quality projects and cost effective services that are presented in a safe and timely manner. Trade Qualified Electrician and Director, Edward grew up on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland. After completed schooling at Toowoomba Grammar School, Edward obtained an Electrical Apprenticeship on the Western Downs. During his apprenticeship Edward was exposed to a large variety of works, including domestic and commercial, working on large scale feedlots, and industrial projects for Origin Energy, Thiess and many others. Edward founded EDC Electrical in 2017 before seeking to expand his business to provide a greater range of services and support to his clients.
Edward has a wealth of knowledge and experience, with over 10 years’ experience in the electrical trade and civil operations. He possesses a diverse range of skills but his passion lies in forming meaningful relationships with his clients to ensure that all projects are delivered to a high standard, efficiently and cost effectively.
Edward has a hands-on approach to running the business and works alongside his management team to ensure we are always providing the highest service and quality of work to our clients. Edward also oversees our apprentices, providing mentorship and guidance, helping them become the best electricians they can be.
Tahlija plays a pivotal role in driving our companies’ operations and ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality services to our clients. With a deep understanding of both business operations and people management, Tahlija enjoys identifying opportunities for process improvement, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and growth.
Passionate about fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment, Tahlija is dedicated to driving the companies’ success while prioritising the needs and growth of both our clients and team members.
Jordan oversees the refrigeration and air conditioning sector of the company, and also plays a pivotal role in being Edward’s 2IC. Working closely with the director and office staff, Jordan provides assistance, support and advice on how to best manage projects, staff and workplace processes.
Jordan brings a wealth of knowledge to the company and strives to ensure that our core values and quality of workmanship are withheld throughout the entire project duration.
Tom joined the team at the beginning of September 2023 and quickly become an integral member of our management team. With over 7 years of experience in the electrical trade, Tom has a diverse skill set that allows him to handle various electrical jobs, from maintenance to industrial projects.
Tom often manages significant projects and is a favourite among our team and customers, due to his positive attitude and approachable nature. Tom enjoys the diversity of the work in his job, where no two days are ever the same – whether it be a day in the office or out in the field. Tom also plays an integral part in shaping our apprentices striving to make work enjoyable, while helping them become the best electricians they can be.
Jamie joined our team in early 2024, to oversee our range of civil works and tree and vegetation solutions, complementing our established range of electrical and refrigeration services. Jamie is very passionate about his arborist skill set and ensures that all civil, tree and vegetation solutions are carried out in a professional manner that are cost effective and presented in a safe and timely manner.
Courtney joined our team back in our critical growth stage early in 2023, and was the first Administration Team member that Tahlija put on. Courtney does an incredible job as our office administrator and has played a vital role in the growth of EDC Electrical since she joined us. Courtney is one of the first people you will encounter when you call or visit us in the office, and she handles a variety of duties including scheduling, managing licences and training records, client liaison, Stock Receipting, Inductions, certifications and training and oversees the office administration. Courtney also assists the office manager with invoicing and accounting.
As part of our office administration team Courtney has the responsibility of ensuring our business runs smoothly and efficiently. Courtney enjoys the happy and supportive team culture within the company and the positive working relationships we hold with our clients.
Bri joined our growing team early in August 2024 and does an incredible job as our office administrator, assisting our management team wherever required. Bri carries out a variety of jobs throughout her day in the office and no two days are ever the same. Her duties include but are not limited to, ensuring compliance with quality processes and procedures, Scheduling, Client liaison, Stock Receipting and overseeing office administration.
As part of our office administration team Bri has the responsibility of ensuring our business runs smoothly and efficiently. Bri enjoys the continuous learning opportunities her role within the company offers her and the growth that comes with upskilling her skillset.
EDC Electrical proudly sponsors the Annual Weipa Bull ride held in August. Our company provides the electrical and civil works required to get the grounds ready or upgrade the services. Our yearly donation to this event comes in at around $10,000 per year.
EDC encourages employment opportunities for locals and our hiring commitment sees us relocate workers to the area which not only ensures we are getting highly qualified and skilled tradesman, but also supports the community economic sustainability. We also offer apprenticeships with the electrical and refrigeration sector and take part in the Western Cape College Work Experience program each year, where we take students that are interested in a career in administration, electrical, refrigeration or civil works.
